Ingredients for pap:
- 750 ml water
- 750 g maize meal
- 1 tablespoon salt
Ingredients for tomato and onion gravy:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 can chopped tomatoes or 6 fresh chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
On the one hot plate bring the water and salt to a boil.
Pour the maize meal into the boiling water.
Stir the maize meal with a wooden spoon until it becomes one lump.
Keep stirring the pap every 10 minutes.
For tomato and onion gravy
On the other hot plate heat olive oil in a pot, add onion and brown lightly.
Add garlic and heat with onion.
Add chopped tomatoes and brown sugar and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Add salt and pepper to taste, and lastly add basil.
